Roof Cleaning

Before Roof Cleaning   After Roof Cleaning

Before   After

What are those black streaks on my roof? They're algae, and yes, they are bad for your roof. Most roofs are ripe for algae because of the asphalt in the shingles. Combine their makeup and the hot and humid climate in Texas and Louisiana and you have an environment the algae thrive in. It will continue to grow until it has covered your entire roof. That's why your roof may look dark, streaky and unappealing.

What can you do about it? You can have it professionally cleaned with an ARMA (PDF) recommended solution at a fraction of the cost of a new roof. Some homeowners replace the entire roof when there is no need for something so drastic and expensive. Do you want to improve the looks of your home dramatically? Do you want your roof to look the way it did when it was new? Well, it's time to give us a call and get a free estimate for cleaning those nasty streaks away safely.

How much will it cost? It costs a lot less than you'd imagine and much less than buying a new roof. When giving an estimate, I will measure the square footage of your home, garage included if applicable, multiply it by the roof pitch* value (see chart below) and give you the quote based on that square footage.

Avoid High Pressure Roof Cleaning I DO NOT use a pressure washer in this process. I use a dedicated pump to apply the cleaning solution to your roof and then safely rinse it away using 60 PSI or less. Yes, this can be accomplished with less pressure than some garden hose and nozzle pressures. If someone offers to clean your roof with a pressure washer, then they don't have your roof's best interest in mind. A pressure washer can and will do damage to your shingles.

How is Pitch Measured?

Pitch is defined as the amount of rise in a roof's slope over one foot in length. For instance, if your roof rises 8 inches in one foot of length, then your pitch is 8:12, or 8 over 12.

Pitch Multiplier
4:12 1.054
6:12 1.118
8:12 1.202
10:12 1.302
12:12 1.414
